One Perfect Week in Ireland...Day 4
Day 4 is one of your last highway driving days, so cherish lanes big enough for your car now because that will soon be a thing of the past.
As you drive from Kilkenny towards Kinsale, you're going to see this bad boy from the side of the road, the Rock of Cashel.
It should ordinarily take you 45 - 60 minutes to get there from Kilkenny, but if you are a young couple, in love, in Ireland for the first time, seeing this outside your little Ford Focus, you will stop every 3 km and get a picture. So, maybe it will take you 75 min to get there.
The Rock of Cashel was not only a filming location for the cinematic blockbuster, Excalibur, it was also the traditional seat for the Kings of Munster and a really great example of Celtic art and architecture. I only know this because I took the tour. I don't work for or sell Heritage Cards, I promise. Its just such an amazing thing!
Ok - here is where you're going to say I made a mistake, I don't know what I'm doing, the luck o' the irish and all that.
I don't give a shit about the blarney stone.
There, I said it.
I skipped it.
If you must go, its kind of on your way to Kinsale, so you can make that a stop. Truthfully, there are a TON of places you could stop on your way to Kinsale. There are several cute towns and castles/forts along the side of the road. Choose your own adventure.
Once you do arrive to your destination for Day 4, you're going to love it. Kinsale is a historic port town with tons of little shops, restaurants and more "craic" than any Irish city I've been to. Do you want to see a ton of middle aged people (you're middle aged, you know that, right?) get down? Then this is the place to be.
I can't promise calico kitty will still be there, but she might be.
Need to get caught up on Day 3? Otherwise, follow along to Day 5!
